About the role
LightMed is recruiting qualified FREC 4 First Responders to join our bank of event and production medical staff.
This is a varied role supporting medical provision at events, film and television productions, sporting fixtures, community events, corporate functions, venues and other temporary workplaces across the North West and wider UK.
Assignments are offered as they become available, with no obligation to accept every deployment and no guarantee of regular hours. The role is suitable for reliable responders who can work independently within their scope while contributing confidently to a wider clinical and operational team.
The role
As a FREC 4 First Responder, you may work as a sole responder or alongside first aiders, emergency medical technicians, nurses, paramedics and doctors at larger or higher-risk events.
Depending on the deployment, your responsibilities may include:
Completing primary surveys and structured patient assessments.
Recording clinical observations, including pulse, respiratory rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturations, temperature, blood glucose, GCS and pain scores.
Acquiring 12-lead ECGs for interpretation by an appropriately qualified clinician.
Providing basic and intermediate airway management within your assessed competence.
Delivering oxygen therapy and assisting with ventilation when clinically indicated.
Responding to medical emergencies, cardiac arrests and serious illness.
Managing traumatic injuries, including major bleeding, suspected fractures and spinal injury.
Treating minor injuries and illnesses.
Administering authorised medicines.
Monitoring patients and arranging appropriate escalation to senior clinicians or NHS services.
Completing accurate and confidential patient documentation.
Providing clear clinical handovers to ambulance crews and other healthcare professionals.
Maintaining medical equipment, treatment areas and infection prevention standards.
Following event medical plans, production risk assessments, communications procedures and operational briefings.
Remaining visible, approachable and proactive throughout the deployment.

Applicants must have:
A current Level 4 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care, or another qualification formally accepted by LightMed as equivalent.
Evidence of current clinical competence and continuing professional development.
Current Out of Hospital Immediate Life Support refresher training.
The right to work in the UK.
An Enhanced DBS certificate with the relevant barred-list checks, registered with the DBS Update Service.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
The ability to complete clear and accurate patient records.
A professional, calm and respectful approach to patients, colleagues and clients.
The ability to work within defined clinical governance, medicines protocols and scope-of-practice boundaries.
Reliable transport and the ability to travel to deployment locations.

The following would be beneficial:
Previous event medical, ambulance, urgent care or film and television experience.
Additional training in areas such as major incidents, water rescue or work at height.
Experience using radios and working within an event-control structure.
An emergency response driving qualification.
